What are compounded GLP-1 (Glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIN 

(Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) medications?

Compounded GLP-1 and GIP  medications are doctor-prescribed medications that contain the same active pharmaceutical ingredient as name brand FDA-approved GLP-1/GIN  medications like Zepbound, Mounjaro, Ozempic and Wegovy.

How Does Semaglutide Work?

Semaglutide (active ingredient of Wegovy/Ozempic)  is a Glp-1 Agonist and works by delaying movement of food from the stomach and it also stimulates the release of insulin.  This action will cause a feeling of fullness quicker and longer as well as enhancing metabolism. 

 

How does Tirzepatide Work?

Tirzepatide is a GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist. In addition to the action of the GLP-1 agonist Tirzepatide incorporates the GIP action of decreased appetite. 

 

What are the potential side effects?

The most common reported side effects are nausea, constipation, and acid reflux. The b12 injections included in the “30 in 90” program can help alleviate the potential issues. Our nutritional guides will also educate our patients on foods to add and which to avoid to combat adverse effects.  The more serious potential side effects are Pancreatitis and Small bowel obstruction. The drugs are contraindicated for those who have a personal or family history of Medullary Thyroid Cancer

What happens after the 30 in 90 program?

No worries! Patients can continue to the program month to month at $400/month until they reach their ultimate goal.

 

Am I a good candidate?

The ideal candidate would have a body mass index of 30 or above or have a body mass index of  27 and also have a weight-related medical condition. Additionally, the best candidates are those committed to long term lifestyle modifications and use the medication as a tool for those changes.
